Once you’ve joined Deliveroo, here’s what to expect...
At Deliveroo, we only onboard new riders when we expect work to be available in their area. This helps us to increase the likelihood that when new or existing riders log on to the Deliveroo platform, there are orders available and rider earnings are maximised.
Unfortunately, we can’t tell you exactly when we will need new riders in your area as it depends on a number of factors such as customer demand, seasonality and the restaurants available.
We will notify you via email as soon as we are ready to move your application to the next stage, so there is no need to check in with us after you apply.
To ride with Deliveroo you’ll need:
Cars and scooters will also need
To use a scooter or motorcycle you’ll need to have a minimum of a learner’s permit or provisional licence and to use a car you will need to have at least a provisional licence.
When we are ready to check your documents we will ask you to upload them using our secure application system. We will contact you if there is an issue with your documents. If you haven’t heard from us then you can assume that everything you submitted was suitable. You will be contacted via email or SMS if any documents you provided are invalid and need to be resubmitted.
If you have a valid international licence, you are still eligible to ride with Deliveroo. You’ll need to provide a certified translation of your licence if it’s not in English. You will be required to upload both your valid licence and the international permit during the onboarding process. Remember that the validity of your international permit can differ depending on your visa status and state regulations.
Your safety and security are of paramount importance to us. That’s why we have a market-leading insurance cover to ensure that whenever you (or your delegate) are out on the road with us, you and your earnings are protected in the event of an accident.
It’s completely free and covers you from the moment you go online, plus up to one hour after logging off.
Deliveroo’s insurance provides financial support in the case of injury sustained while riding with Deliveroo. It also gives you support to cover lost income in case you can’t work following an accident while riding with Deliveroo. You can claim an ongoing payment if you are injured and unable to work. You’ll also receive a lump sum payment for more serious injuries. This policy includes a variety of out-of-pocket expense benefits.
Note: scooter and car riders will still need to have third-party liability insurance for their vehicle.
Riders get paid for each delivery they make. The exact delivery fee varies per order and includes a variable distance fee. You will be informed of the delivery fee payable before you accept the order.
Fees are paid automatically every two weeks on a Wednesday. If you want your fees sooner, you can use our cash out feature in the app, for a 0.75c fee.
Riders keep 100% of any tips they receive and these are paid at the same time as the rest of your fees.
Here’s what you can get for free, once you’ve joined Deliveroo:
